AI puts endless possibilities in the hands of creators. Voices, avatars, videos, music… the range is impressive. All of this is not without quality issues (you have heard of „AI slop“ before, haven’t you?) and obvious legal risks (transparency, copyright, …), but if done right, the results are incredibly powerful. I have left out books, articles and so on for this section to focus solely on my favorite tools. This is a very dynamic field and so I might have left out some newcomers who might already perform better in this area.
Sure, almost every GenAI application nowadays can create pictures of videos. However, few to none match the aesthetics and range of options Midjourney provides.
Versatile, comprehensive, and integrated in a powerful design ecosystem. Pictures, videos, audio, all in one. Consistency still with potential, but overall a solid choice to start creating with AI.
Easy-to-use design suite for layouts, images, text, and code. Don’t expect it to be the frontier application for the most ambitious endeavours. It’s hands-on, and good at that, too.
Advanced AI text-to-image generator, open weight model, and the choice when you need a typography that actually works. Posters, flyers, logos, marketing? This is a rather safe bet.
Runway is designed for cinematic AI video generation. Visual dynamics, real-world physics, character consistency and a variety of options.
A comprehensive suite of features categorized under the three pillars „market/prompte“, „look good“, and „sound good“. Taken together, the package enables video and podcast editing via AI quite convincingly. Can be quite heavy on credits depending on usage.
Best known for its AI voice generation, this suite now enables a variety of use cases from text-to-speech, video/audio/text generation or agent applications. Still not sounding fully natural and emotionally intelligent at times, but still my overall pick.
Suno is still the go-to solution for creating music. Models perform fine, but are prompt sensitive and can produce bland or inconsistent output. Customization is limited. But overall, the mention in this top 10 is well deserved.
While not yielding better results than e.g. Midjourney or Runway when it comes to generative capabilities, I do like Krea’s upscaling and fine-tuning capabilities and being able to access all relevant industry models on a single workspace for maximum flexibility.
Targeted toward enterprise usage, Synthesia is a good choice for creating business-related content like avatar-led videos, trainings, communication and so on. The results are consistent and the range of avatars and voices more than versatile.
