AI is a diverse field where a variety of backgrounds and professions are involved in. There are of course researchers, devs, and other tech specialists, but also specialized lawyers, managers, or governance professionals. The field is not regulated like the medical or legal profession, so your success is less based on certificates and more on your track record, hands-on experience and skills that you bring to the table. So see this list more like enhanced knowledge. In most cases, you still need to graduate from a top-tier university in your respective field of expertise.
Andrew Ng has been setting the de-facto standards when it comes to AI courses. He offers high-quality AI courses and specializations covering machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, agentic workflows, MLOps and much more.
Excellent course that includes the necessary mathematical and Computer Science fundamentals needed to understand Machine Learning. AI is more than prompt engineering, and this course provides a great basis for actually understanding what Machine Learning ist.
I could also mention well-known learning platforms like Coursera and edX here (and there are great courses on these and similar platforms), but I think Udacity deserves a mention in this list. They offer a comprehensive portfolio of topics and course types, and their Nanodegree programs still hold up in quality.
The well-known community platform for models, datasets, spaces, papers, and open-source AI collaboration. The „Learn“ section includes lots of helpful courses completely free and without ads.
Massive community on this platform that calls itself „The World’s AI Proving Ground“. Regular competitions and a comprehensive learning platform for building portfolios, working with datasets, practicing ML, and exploring public notebooks.
Microsoft offers several certificates for the AI Engineer role and they are well recognized in the industry. Azure, Github, agentic development… a solid well-rounded selection. Pick certificates with exams to boost your credibility.
Wide range of highly relevant courses spanning many relevant fields of AI. The Professional Machine Learning Engineer path is highly relevant. Updated regularly to reflect changes in Google’s product portfolio.
Worldwide developer (and partner) conferences bringing together AI professionals from all fields. The events are also available as (several hours long) streams on YouTube, so check that out as well in case you did not attend.
Almost all Business Schools provide online AI courses nowadays, but Harvard does it probably best, with highly relevant courses such as AI for Leaders, AI Essentials for Business, or their course on AI-driven decision-making. In the end, if you want to go down that path, an MBA or EMBA is still the way to go and will include AI in any case as well.
The only relevant global certification on AI Governance, and pretty challenging. I am a certified AIGP and I strongly recommend this to everybody interested in getting into AI Governance. Challenging exam, and a range of relevant contents ranging from tech to technical standards to management and global regulation.
